NIGER COAST 1894 ½d on 2½d blue, SG65Niger Coast 1894 (10 Aug) d on 2d blue, type 17 surcharge, Old Calabar provisional, tied to small piece by 'OLD CALABAR' squared circle, dated 'SP 24 94'. First state of position 8 of the setting, prior to the broken 'N' in 'ONE, SG65. A fine and scarce used example. Very scarce with only 960 of the basic stamps being issued. Accompanied with an American Philatelic Society (APS) certificate of authenticity (2000). Stanley Gibbons catalogue value: 250.
