A Marvellous Stylised Mid-20thC Life-Sized Painted Composite Model of a Harlequin Great DaneOrigin: British Period: Mid Twentieth Century Provenance: Unknown Date: c. 1940 60 Height: 36 at ear or 28 at body Depth: 8 Width: 44 (to tip of tail) The quite marvellous highly stylised life sized hand crafted and painted composite model of a fully grown adult Harlequin Great Dane dog, probably female, with enunciated features in the distinctive black and white lifelike pigments, freestanding, survives from the middle section of the twentieth

both of which are innocent and vulnerable to a certain extent

but influenced by the French work of Louis XIV

which can be used as a base or as a drawer on one of the other levels to the runners

The whole is in well-aged condition with the metal now encrusted by a beautiful atmospheric oxidisation and weathering and structurally she is sound other than one of the handles being a little loose to the lower end
